Celebrate Your Successes!

July 26, 2008

I’ve noticed a recurring theme with many of my clients.  They are typically very hard workers – really willing to do whatever it takes to get the life they want, the live out their purpose(s).  And I am always reminding them to stop, take a breath, and CELEBRATE!

What am I doing?

July 22, 2008

Someone asked me how I manage to have leftovers – so I thought I’d share my strategy – which I have learned from Paul McKenna’s “I Can Make You Thin” program (see It is so simple, yet so very different for me. I now allow myself to eat whatever I want, whenever I want, as long as I am hungry, and I savor every bite. (more…)

When Life Gets Hard

July 19, 2008

I have made this commitment to writing here – in my blog – twice a week.  In the first post of the week – I’ll write about my progress with food and my weight.  In my second post – I’ll write a coaching piece – something to inspire action.

Well – this has been a challenging week for me.  (more…)

I have leftovers

July 16, 2008

So – I’ve been really focussing on eating when I’m hungry (hungry for food that is) – and stopping when I feel satisfied or full.  You know what?  I have leftovers.  At almost every meal – in the past, I’d have devoured the foods on my plate.  But when I actually check – and know that I’m going to eat whenever I feel hungry again – I end up with leftovers.  Even better – leftovers of food I really enjoy.  And I don’t feel deprived.

Designing the life you want

July 10, 2008

What does your dream life look like? The big, giant, almost fantasy-like, dream you have for your life? What stirs your soul? What fulfills you? What do you yearn for in your life?

I Love Chicken!

July 9, 2008

So – I’m still on my expedition to change my thinking about food.  And how fascinating it has been.  I have been eating what I want, whenever I want – as long as I’m hungry.  Then stopping when I’m full.  Sounds so simple.  Yet I realize – it has been at least 10 years since I’ve allowed myself to eat what I want – without judgment.  And while I typically am hungry when I eat – it never occurred to me to check in and figure out when I’m satisfied.   It all feels decadent…

Don’t Think about Pink Elephants (or TV)

July 8, 2008

I am often reminding myself and others to focus on what you DO want, not what you DON’T want – because the unconscious brain doesn’t recognize the NOTs… (If you want proof – don’t think about elephants. Now – what do you see? ELEPHANTS! possilby with a big X over them. If I say – think about purple giraffes – what’s on your mind? PURPLE GIRAFFES!)

Food – A Worthy Adversary?

July 4, 2008

I have struggled with ‘weight issues’ my whole life – not unlike many women I know.

Struggled with self-esteem, trying to understand how my own looks related to who I am, what others think of me. All that. Wrapped up in the “Ugh – I’m Gaining Weight Again” mantra. I don’t typically talk about it. In part because I hate the stereotype – “Does this make me look fat?” – in part because I’ve struggled with this my whole life. And mostly lost… And who wants to talk about THAT?

Stabilize your Core

July 3, 2008

In working with my clients – and looking at my own inner workings – I have developed this theory that we all have a set of things – that make up our core – or our foundation.  These are those things or areas of our life that provide us with a sense of security, safety, stability.  When these are compromised – or aren’t there – we can’t live out our purpose, we can’t go after a life of passion.  We can’t focus on it.  Let’s face it, we’ve all seen enough sci-fi to know that its very bad to de-stabilize the core.
